São Brás hosts the XIV Grand Chapter of the Confraternity of the Algarve's Gastronomers

The XIV Grand Chapter of the Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve takes place this Saturday, October 6, in São Brás de Alportel. 

This initiative, supported by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, will bring together around 25 Spanish and Portuguese Confraternity, with the presence of representatives of the Portuguese Federation of Gastronomic Confraternity, the Federation of Spanish Enogastronomic Confraternity and the President of the European Council of Confraternity – CEUCO Carlos Martin Cosme.

The program starts at 09:00 am, next to the Municipal Market, from where, at 10:00 am, a parade of confraternities through the streets of the village to the City Hall, in the heart of the Historic Centre, where the welcome ceremony will take place, at 10:20 am, at Noble Hall of the City Hall.

At 11:30 am, the insignia will be blessed in the Igreja Matriz. This is a moment that will feature musical accompaniment by the fado singer Raquel Peters. After the blessing of the insignia, the enthronement ceremony of new Confreres of Honor, Merit and Effective follows.

In this ceremony, João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region, Vítor Guerreiro, Mayor of São Brás de Alportel, and António Farias, prior of the Parish of São Brás, will be enthroned Confrades of Honor.

The Confraria de Gastronomos do Algarve «aims to promote the investigation of the gastronomic heritage in its multiple aspects, the recipes, the art and technique of regional products, as well as to defend and publicize the authenticity of regional gastronomy without repressing its natural evolution» , says the Chamber of São Brás.
