João Frade, Sickonce and Ana Perfeito take “Moda Vestra” to Castro Marim

Show was commissioned by Azul – Algarve Theater Network

The show “Moda Vestra”, by João Frade, Sickonce and Ana Perfeito, will be presented in Castro Marim, at the Municipal Library Auditorium, on November 16, at 21 pm.

Commissioned by Azul – Algarve Theater Network, “Moda Vestra” is an interdisciplinary show with a collective of three artists from the Algarve: João Frade (accordionist), Sickonce (electronics) and Ana Perfeito (visual artist). «The idea is to stimulate and enhance contemporary creation with protagonists from the Algarve», explains the Chamber of Castro Marim.

The creatives come together «to create an audiovisual project that, based on the region's traditional musical sounds, intends to explore the ambiguity between the traditional, the past, the current and future visions of the Algarve, in an experimental perspective of contemporary reinterpretation. The fusion of different styles and media visualizes the delivery of a unified identity, but open».

«A “vestra” delivery intended to be completed by the public. From this principle comes the origin of the name “Moda Vestra”: “current” and “traditional song” fashion; Vestra from the Latin “teu/tua”», adds the autarchy.

The creative process in this show «will itself be a search for this identity with the methodology of “giving space to the other”, of letting each artist's personality (co)exist and placing its elements in the collective construction of history. The tools for materializing this challenge will be the accordion, musical instruments, machines, samples, sound and visual environments – images of what these artists were and are. One wants to be raw, strong, emotional, with room for interpretation and doubts».

With free entry, the show lasts approximately 75 minutes and is aimed at people over 12 years old.
