Portuguese gymnasts jumped to medals in Loulé

Loulé World Cup Trampolines Gymnastics and Loulé Cup ended this Saturday

Portugal won a medal in the Loulé World Cup for Trampolines Gymnastics and three in the Loulé Cup international tournament, which took place simultaneously, in the city of Loulé, between Thursday, 4th and today, Saturday, 6th of October.

Gymnast Raquel Pinto (SFEM) won the bronze medal in the Women's Tumbling World Cup final. The gymnast "fulfilled the objective of this participation, a clean race and a place among the top three", according to the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation.

The gymnast achieved, with this result, the first place in the Women's Tumbling Ranking, of the International Gymnastics Federation. Loulé was the last stage of the circuit and the cups to the winners of each specialty were awarded this afternoon.

Raquel Pinto said she is “very happy with the outcome of this competition. I wasn't expecting to win first place in the Women's Tumbling FIG Ranking, my goals were to do two clean series that would give me access to the podium. Being a circuit winner came in addition. This was another test of preparation for the World Cup that takes place in a month, in Russia, and I think it was an excellent indicator that the work I have been doing, the effort and dedication are bearing fruit».

In the Female Synchronized Trampoline, the pair Sofia Correia (Association of Parents and Friends of Gymnastics of Loulé)/Catarina Nunes (Lisbon Ginásio Clube) came in fifth.

In Male Synchronized Trampoline, the pair Diogo Ganchinho (SCP)/Pedro Ferreira (SCP) ended their participation in the World Cup in seventh place.

In the Male Individual Trampoline specialty, gymnast Pedro Ferreira (SCP) «had an excellent performance», according to the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation, and was ranked seventh.

In the Loulé Cup international tournament, Portugal won three medals. Diogo Costa (GCV) won the medal of another in the Double Mini-Trampoline final and João Caeiro (LGC) also guaranteed that the bronze medal will stay in Portugal. In the same modality, Tiago Romão (GCZ) was ranked fifth.

In the female aspect, Inês Martins (CEDF) was fourth and Sara Guido (LGC) was ranked sixth.

Yesterday, Friday, Portugal had already won a medal from another with the Double Mini-Trampoline team made up of gymnasts Tiago Romão (GCZ), Diogo Costa (GCV) and João Caeiro (LGC).

The female team made up of gymnasts Inês Martins (SCP), Sara Guida (LGC) and Mafalda Brás (APAGL) was fourth in these finals.
