Mértola Hunting Fair promises conviviality and entertainment

Hunts, colloquiums, music and gastronomy are some of the program's proposals

The Mértola Hunting Fair, which runs from the 26th to the 28th of October, will «provide various perspectives and provide moments of conviviality and entertainment for thousands of visitors» who will visit the Alentejo town for the occasion, guarantees the Mértola Chamber .

Hunts, colloquiums, music, traditional producers and gastronomy are some of the proposals that the municipality organizes the event.

The first initiative of this edition is a colloquium with the theme “Compatibility of sustainable hunting management of smaller game with the Iberian Imperial Eagle”, which takes place in the pavilion's multipurpose room, scheduled to start at 10:00 am.

The doors of the municipal sports pavilion, where the fair takes place, open to the public at 15:00 and the official opening starts at 18:00. The moment counts with the musical animation of the Grupo Coral Guadiana de Mértola. On this first day, artists David Antunes and Tiago Catarino take to the stage of the fair.

On Saturday 27th October, the fair's activities begin with the 9th St Huberto Iberian Cup. At 10:00 am, the second colloquium of the event will take place, which will have hunting and food as its theme.

Throughout the day, there are several demonstrations of falconry/cetrary, hunting the rabbit with a dog, an exhibition of packs and circulating animation. In the fairground, in the tavern area, shows by Ruth Marlene, Sons do Minho and Cristiano Martins.

The last day of the Hunting Fair of Mértola also starts early with the release of partridges, pheasants, pigeons and doves and the national championship of jumping hunting “Fernando Pereira”.

Honey from the municipality will be highlighted in the II Honey Contest Natural Park of the Guadiana Valley, which takes place at 14:00. During the afternoon, the music is performed by Buba Espinho, Os Ventos Alentejanos and the Grupo Coral Moços do Montado.

The Mertola Hunting Fair has the collaboration of Apiguadiana, Calgueiros do Sul Association, Guadiana Valley Entrepreneurs Association, Mértola Archaeological Field, Capital Cinegética, Maralha Canine Center – Vitor Silva, Fencaça, Nature Protection League – Life Imperial, Small Hunting Pack of Algoz, Guadiana Valley Natural Park, Rural Tourism “O Alhinho”, Hunting Area of ​​Dorde/Santana and Cambas and Tourist Hunting Area “Moinho Monte Novo”.
