Faro and Loulé host events with the “Verão Azul” brand in October

This month takes place in Faro and Loulé, a creative laboratory and three artistic residencies

The Blue Summer will be felt in Faro and Loulé, throughout the month of October. Although, in 2018, there will be no edition of this festival, casaBranca, the association that promotes the event, is not sitting idly by and will promote a creative laboratory and three artist residencies, until the end of this month.

One of the proposals is the "Shock Lab", which will take place in Faro and Loulé between the 19th and 21st of October and will have two moments open to the public. On the 20th of October, the participants in the laboratories present their projects at the Cerca do Convento do Espírito Santo, in Loulé, and on the 21st of October they participate in the installation-performance-conversation Long-Table, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

This initiative will bring together seven artists from the Algarve (Faro, Loulé, Lagos and Tavira), seven artists from other cities in the country (Lisbon, Coimbra and Braga) and two foreigners (France and Poland), selected for «four days of reflection and debate on creative practices in peripheral contexts, in the its various aspects: as a geographical concept, as an artistic practice, as a symbolic value, among others», according to casaBranca.

In moments of interaction with the audience, the hosts will be Mónica Calle (theatre), Gustavo Ciriaco (dance) and Xana (visual arts), who were the «mediators and provocateurs of this laboratory».

At the same time, the Cine-Teatro Louletano will host, throughout the month, three artistic residencies that aim to «establish rhizomatic relationships in the Algarve's territory», with creators Raquel André, Gustavo Ciríaco and Cátia Pinheiro.

The public will be able to get to know up close the artists and the work they are developing in open conversations, free of charge. On October 11, at 18:30 pm, Raquel André will be at the Convento do Espírito Santo Auditorium to talk about the “Artists Collection” project. Cátia Pinheiro will also be at this location, on the 18th of October, and will also be in Lagos, at Galeria Lar, on the 23rd, always at 18:30 pm. The last open conversation will be with Gustavo Ciriaco, who will speak about the project “Between Dogs and Wolves” on October 30, at the Auditorium of the Convento do Espírito Santo.
