Sculpture by Carlos No launches exhibition cycle at the Museum of Faro and from Artadentro

The exhibition “Estais” will kick off the contemporary art cycle “A Arte Faz Bem?”

The installation/sculpture exhibition “Estais”, by Carlos No, will be inaugurated on October 20 at the Municipal Museum of Faro and kick off the contemporary art cycle “A Arte Faz Bem?”, promoted jointly by Artadentro and the Farense cultural space, with the support of the Câmara de Faro. The show can be visited until November 20th.

«The sculptural work of Carlos No is essentially characterized by critical reflection on themes of social relevance, namely those related to the disrespect of Human Rights: situations of injustice, lack of freedom, exploitation and abuse of Power, etc. It is, therefore, an artistic project that uses the language of art as a tool for intervention and public awareness of issues of general interest», according to Artadentro.

In Estais — form of the verb to be, or nautical term that designates the cables that fix the rigging —, Carlos No presents «a project site-specific, which simultaneously addresses two relevant current problems, although of a different nature: on the one hand, an annual cyclical scourge, on the other, a kind of atavistic blockage that prevents us from timely solving pernicious phenomena that are well identified and with a known remedy and proven".

“A Arte Faz Bem?” is a new cycle of contemporary art starting in October 2018 and running until May 2019, curated by Artadentro, carried out in collaboration with the Municipal Museum of Faro and supported by the Municipality of Faro.

«It is, essentially, another step towards public awareness of the social relevance of artistic activity, namely in the field of contemporary art, corresponding to the needs of today's Faro», according to Artadentro.
