Quim Barreiros performs at fishermen's parties in Monte Gordo

Parties last from the 5th to the 9th of September

Quim Barreiros gives a concert this Sunday, September 9th, at 22 pm, on Avenida Marginal de Monte Gordo (Vila Real de Santo António), as part of the traditional festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora das Dores.

The celebrations begin on September 5th, with the performance of the Philharmonic Band of the VRSA Cultural Association, at 21 pm.

On the following day, Thursday, the shows start at 21 pm and feature the dance groups Academia de Ballet Contemporâneo, Vila Real de Santo António Conservatory, Age d'Ouro and Splash. The night is completed by the Santo António de Arenilha Ethnographic Group.

On the 7th of September, from 22 pm onwards, entertainment is ensured by the rhythms of the Academia de Baile Gracia Diaz and Luís Guilherme.

On Saturday, the morning is reserved for activities for the youngest. This will be followed, at 17:00, by the Beira-Mar veterans game vs Estoril Praia, as well as the usual religious ceremonies in the church of Monte Gordo. The evening's entertainment starts at 22 pm and is in charge of Edna Pimenta, Grupo Trio Sensação and DJ Cabeça.

The highlight of the festivities is the procession, on Sunday, 9th of September, at 17:00. Marked by a very characteristic character, the celebration runs along the sandy beach of Monte Gordo, being accompanied not only by hundreds of faithful and tourists, but also by fishing boats that, with their horns, announce the passage of the religious procession.

Also on Sunday, at 22 pm, Avenida Marginal de Monte Gordo receives a concert by Quim Barreiros.

«The artist will bring some of his greatest successes to the stage and will close one of the most charismatic pilgrimages in the Algarve in great style», says the Câmara de VRSA.

The poster concludes with the traditional firework, at midnight, which will light up the Bay of Monte Gordo.

The party in honor of Nossa Senhora das Dores is organized by the City Council of VRSA, by the Parish Council of Monte Gordo and by the local parish. It has the support of VRSA SGU, the Santo António de Arenilha Fishermen Association and the Bay of Artisanal Fishing Association Monte Gordo.
