The water cut, which has been affecting Alvor, Torralta and Praia da Rocha, in Portimão since last night, should be resolved in full at «18, 19 hours» this Wednesday, September 5th, he assured the Sul Informação the delegated administrator of the Municipal Water and Waste Company of Portimão (EMARP).

The situation has lasted since around “19:00” yesterday, the 4th, when an excavator caused a rupture in a water pipeline.

João Rosa explained, to the Sul Informação, that the excavator was working “in a private work” and the pipeline burst.

This situation led to the cut off of the water supply "in some tall buildings" in those three locations, but João Rosa says that, in most houses, there is "water, despite not having much pressure".

The affected pipeline supplies the Bemposta, Amoreira and Alto Pacheco Reservoirs.

In the area, there is no "redundant system" that could prevent the lack of water, just a "single pipeline that supplies these three reservoirs", admitted the administrator of EMARP.

Full water replenishment was delayed due to 'missing materials'. “Our joints were not good enough and that delayed the work”, he concluded.
