São Brás contributed 7 proposals to the OP Jovem Portugal

Young people from all over the country presented projects that can go up to 100 euros

Young people from São Brás de Alportel contributed with seven proposals for the Participatory Budget for Portugal Youth 2018, following a session held on July 16, at the Youth Space of this municipality.

“Escola Viva”, “Algarve Outdoor Cinema”, “Community Music Studio”, “Gastronomic Tasting of the Algarve Youth”, “Fonte Férrea Alive”, “Lan Party Algarve” and “Serra Viva” are the themes of the proposals presented .

The Youth Portugal 2018 Participatory Budget is aimed at citizens between the ages of 14 and 30, who are invited to present and vote on projects that will be carried out with public investment in the following year.

Contributions can be made in the areas of inclusive sport, intergenerational dialogue, cultural innovation and environmental sustainability, up to a maximum amount of 100 thousand euros, always with the aim of benefiting more than one municipality in the entire national territory.

In 2017, more than 400 proposals were submitted, which were voted on by more than 1000 young people.

In the case of São Brás, the younger population of the municipality was challenged to participate in a session led by technicians from the delegation of Faro from the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, which was attended by Custódio Moreno, director of the regional delegation of this institute, and the São Brasense city council executive.

Civic participation is nothing new for young people in São Brás de Alportel, a municipality that, as the president of the Chamber Vítor Guerreiro said, «has already had long experience in the participatory budget process in the municipality and also in the municipality's schools. a similar process has been developed, which encourages students to make their contribution to the school community'.
