Matias Damásio will perform on August 15, at 22:30 pm, at the Festas em Honra de Nossa Senhora dos Mártires, in Castro Marim.
These festivities start on the 12th of August, with the high point on the 15th.
«With a rich and diversified program, from sport, through ethnography and handicraft, gastronomy and musical entertainment, the Festivals in Honor of N. Sra. dos Mártires have their main stage in the heart of the border town, Praça 1º de Maio », explains the Chamber of Castro Marim.
This year's celebrations begin at 9:00 am on Sunday, August 12, with the “Vila de Castro Marim” Sea Tasting, at Praia da Alagoa, in Altura.
They continue on the 13th, Monday, with the commemorations of the International Youth Day, which, officially, is celebrated on the 12th of August.
The entertainment starts at 18 pm, at the Castro Marim Football Field, with laser tag games, power crew dance, a color run and concerts by “Major Almeida”, “Possessivo” and “Ho Chi Minh”. The party ends with a foam party with DJ Karussa, scheduled for 00:00. The organization of the Youth Day has the support of the Motoclube “Os Piratas”.
The opening of the Crafts and Ethnography Fair resumes the festivities on Tuesday, August 14th, at Praça 1º de Maio, at 20:30. The Arutla dance group (22:00) takes the stage, whose performance has earned the merit of years of effort and dedication, led by teacher Laura Pook and by Clube Recreativo Alturense.
The Feasts in Honor of Our Lady of the Mártires has its ex-libris on Wednesday, August 15th, the day of the patron saint.
The celebrations start early, at 8:30 am, with the solemn moments of Arruada, by the Banda Musical Castromarinense, and the Hastear da Bandeira in Paços do Concelho.
At 10:00 am, the religious ceremonies begin, with the recitation of the rosary and a solemn mass in the Main Church, later resumed at 19:00 pm, when the venerated image of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires is prepared to leave the Mother Church and walk in procession through the streets of village, accompanied and greeted by hundreds of devout faithful, who annually participate in this pilgrimage.
This will also be the day of the 2rd edition of the annual futsal tournament “Nelson Solá”, scheduled for 9:00 am, Castromarinense's posthumous tribute to the former player.
The main day of the Fiestas will bring Matias Damásio to the stage, in a concert that promises to be special, scheduled for 22:30.
The Festivals in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires are organized by the City Council of Castro Marim and the Parish of São Tiago and are supported by Clubs, Local Associations and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Castro Marim.
