Two more villages evacuated due to the Monchique fire

People are not, for now, "in danger"

The villages of Ladeira de Cima and Trucais, in Monchique, are being evacuated, as a precaution, due to the fire that is still active in the Perna da Negra area, in Monchique. 

The information was confirmed to our newspaper by a source from the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro who could not specify how many people were evacuated.

According to the Civil Protection, at the moment, 722 operational firefighters are fighting, supported by 192 vehicles and 10 aerial means.

The command post, set up on the road to Sabóia, is in the meantime being relocated to the Monchique fire station.
