CCDR shows in Tavira the contribution made by Europe to the Mediterranean Diet

CCDR and the Europe Direct Algarve Center present a program full of initiatives at the Mediterranean Diet Fair, in Tavira

Two get-togethers-tour that aim to make known «marking activities of the Mediterranean landscape» and lessons about the Algarve projects that help “transform the world without leaving anyone behind” are some of the suggestions that the Algarve Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR) and the Europe Direct Center Algarve will present during the Mediterranean Diet Fair, which will take place in Tavira between the 6th and 9th of September.

The two entities will take advantage of the fact that the European Year of Cultural Heritage is being celebrated in 2018 to make known the European project and some of the contributions that the European Union has made to the preservation of the Algarve's traditional culture and activities. way, of the Mediterranean Diet.

On the 7th of September, Friday, at 9:00 am, the CCDR promotes the get-together-tour “O Figo – Algarve's Cultural Food”, at the CEAT – Center for Agricultural Experimentation of Tavira, an initiative carried out in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries in the Algarve.

On Saturday 8th, there will be a similar initiative dedicated to the theme “Landscapes of Salt”, in the saltpans of the company Tavirasal, by Rui Francisco Neves Dias.

With these two initiatives, the CCDR do Algarve intends to evoke «the close connection between the barrocal fields and the riverside areas and their importance in the international affirmation of the Algarve, in economic and social terms».

The Europe Direct Algarve Information Center will give classes on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The same entity will promote, during the four days of the event, at 19:00 pm, “The Greatest Lesson in the World”, in partnership with various entities in the region, public and private, where they will make known Algarve projects that aim to “transform the world without leaving no one behind”.

Visitors to the fair can also count on the initiative to read and act out legends about the lands and people of the Mediterranean «Europe in stories: a journey through the Mediterranean», scheduled for 16 pm on Sunday, in Largo de Brincar, in front of the Palace of the Gallery.

The program of activities also includes an exhibition at Casa André Pilarte about the Refood project, «which will culminate in an informative action dedicated to local entrepreneurs in the catering and hotel sectors, to take place on September 13th (Thursday , 16 pm), in the Paços do Concelho building”, according to the CCDR of the Algarve.
