AMAL opens tender to hire 15 forest sappers

Forest sapper brigade to have an operational base in São Marcos da Serra

The Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL) is going to launch the tender, by the end of August, to hire the 15 workers who will make up the new brigade of forest sappers in the south of the country. The decision was taken last Friday, the 17th, at the meeting of the Intermunicipal Council, held in Faro.

The forest sapper brigade, created by AMAL, will have the operational base installed in São Marcos da Serra, in the municipality of Silves, and will act, «according to the needs, in the Algarve region».

According to AMAL, "the 15 sappers should be grouped into three teams of five workers, one of which may be allocated to the municipality of Monchique and the other to the municipality of Loulé."

In addition to hiring human resources, the brigade will also be equipped with the necessary material.

The candidacy of the Algarve chambers for the creation of this brigade was recently approved by the Secretary of State for Forests.
