The Brigada de Sapadores Florestais that AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community is preparing to create will have its operational base in São Marcos da Serra, in the municipality of Silves. The decision was taken this Friday, the 6th of July, at the meeting of the Intermunicipal Council, where the 16 mayors of the Algarve have a seat.

Once the location of the operational base has been decided, the Algarve Chambers will now move towards hiring 15 forest sappers, to form three teams with five operational each, who "will act, according to needs, in the southern region of the country", according to YELLOW For this, a public tender will be opened.

AMAL's candidacy for the creation of this brigade and the three sapper teams that compose it, was recently approved by the Secretary of State for Forests. The project includes not only the hiring of human resources, but also the acquisition of the necessary material to equip them.
