The PSD Algarve considers that the lead in the requalification of the EN125, in the section between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António, "reveals the Government's behavior in this process".

In a statement, the PSD Algarve says that "it has sought to sensitize successive governments to the importance of the complete requalification of the EN125".

«The renegotiation of the concession presented by the PS Government failed. It was never the Government's intention to advance with the work, so it took more than two years to present the case to the Court of Auditors for the first time», it reads, still.

The PSD Algarve guarantees that it wants “the requalification work to advance, whoever is the Government, but it does not admit nor tolerate the deceit and dissimulation that have marked this process. The Algarvians need these works. To improve mobility, security for citizens, the economy and quality of life”.

Last Thursday, June 28, the Court of Auditors (TC) refused to review the contract for the Algarve Litoral sub-concession, which would allow Infraestruturas de Portugal to proceed with the requalification works on the EN125 between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António.

Before this reaction from the PSD, the PS has already gone public accusing the previous PSD/CDS Government for not progressing. Jorge Botelho, president of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, also reacted to this lead, saying it is “bad news” for the region.
