Union wants answers from the Ministry of Education about aggression against educator in VRSA

SPZS also expresses “all solidarity” with the attacked kindergarten teacher

The South Zone Teachers' Union, affiliated with FENPROF, demands answers from the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation regarding the attack on a kindergarten teacher, last Friday, May 3, in Vila Real de Santo António.

The situation involved the parents of a student, next to Escola Básica de Santo António, with the teacher being attacked «when she was going to an activity with the students», says the Union.

In a new statement sent to the press, SPZS/FENPROF “strongly condemns this act of extreme violence, expressing its strong condemnation. In recent years, acts of violence against teachers have been known, perpetrated both by students and their families, which have always deserved the firm condemnation of SPZS and FENPROF».

The union demands, from the Government, «measures that combat the problem and make the school a space for healthy coexistence between all those who make up the educational community».

«These types of episodes are not unrelated to the continued devaluation of the teaching profession and the profound disrespect for teachers that public entities themselves have been allowing or promoting, with serious consequences on a social level, particularly on the image of teachers», he considers.

SPZS also expresses “all solidarity” with the attacked kindergarten teacher.
