“Patches from ancient oceans on the walls and floors (Silves)” was the theme of the activity that took place on July 17, at the Secondary School of Silves, within the scope of the Ciência Viva no Verão program promoted by the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture .
Participants, children and adults, had the opportunity to explore various stories stored in the rocks and fossils present in the building of this school.
The activity was another opportunity to disseminate some of the work developed under the school project “The rocks and fossils of my school…”, which has had, among other objectives, the purpose of enhancing the geological heritage and promoting literacy and scientific dissemination.
Guided by Professor Francisco Lopes, the activity resulted from a collaboration with the Silves Schools Group, the Live Science Center of the Algarve and the tourist entertainment company GeoWalks & Talks.
The Ciência Viva no Verão 2018 program began on the 15th of July and will last until the 15th of September, with activities across the country and on various topics. For more information and to register for activities, follow the link http://www.cienciaviva.pt/veraocv/2018/.
