The citizens of Aljezur are being invited to participate in a human cordon against the prospecting and exploitation of fossil fuels in the sea off that town, scheduled for Saturday, July 7th, at 15 pm, at Monte Clérigo beach.

The organizers of the “Oil is Má Onda” initiative challenge “all those who want to defend the sea” to be present on this beach “with a black cross painted on their face”, to join a nationwide protest.

On the 7th, say the organizers of this initiative, «lovers of the sea, nature and a sustainable life, tourists, fishermen, surfers, body boarders and swimmers” will be on Portuguese beaches “to claim the space of the sea as a public space for all and challenge the prospecting for hydrocarbons promoted by the Portuguese State”, which is advancing “without environmental studies, against the opinion of its inhabitants”.

"For a future without holes and for the protection of the ecosystem shared by all, we are in favor of the energy transition to renewables and decarbonization of the country, especially given the incredible natural resources we have, such as waves, wind and sun" , conclude those responsible for this action.
