Ala dos Namorados celebrates 25 years of career with a special concert in Loulé

The band with strong connections to Loulé, through its charismatic vocalist Nuno Guerreiro, celebrates a quarter of a century with a show in the Algarve city

The band Ala dos Namorados, led by Nuno Guerreiro, from Loulé, celebrates 25 years of their career with a first official concert on August 4, at 22 pm, at Largo do Monumento Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco, in Loulé.

In this festive moment, Sara Tavares, Vitorino, Shout and the Orquestra Clássica do Sul will join the Ala dos Namorados for a «unique show where you can hear all the group's successes, in a succession of themes – such as “Os Loucos de Lisboa ”, “Caçador de Sóis”, “Solta-se o Beijo” or “The History of Zé Passarinho” – which will recall the place that the Ala dos Namorados occupies in the history of Portuguese popular music», says Câmara de Loulé.

A moment that promises to be even more emotional due to the fact that Nuno Guerreiro acts at home, before their countrymen.

«Certainly there is no other band in Portugal that so perfectly combines sounds from so many different musical currents with such a refined writing and such a captivating and unique voice», adds the municipality.

«All this success has always resulted from a unique and inimitable combination in the music of the Ala dos Namorados, which includes the light Portuguese song with a classic vibe, the popular jazz, the most dusty pop, the fado in its most vocalist register and a transversal ability to make all these genres a unique and personalized experience».

«All because there has always been a triangle of enlightened complicity and an inspired convergence of talents: the melodic mastery of Manuel Paulo and João Gil in composition, the narrative richness of João Monge's writing capable of capturing perfectly the daily life of Portuguese cities and the versatile and emotional voice of Nuno Guerreiro».

This combination “could only have resulted in one of those success stories doomed for the composition of popular hymns”.

Tickets cost 15 euros and can be purchased at shops in the city of Loulé, in participating stores. This concert is part of the Loulé Summer 2018 program.
