The river beach of Pego Fundo, in Alcoutim, received this Wednesday, June 27, the award “Accessible Beach – Beach for All”.

Present at the flag-raising ceremony were José Galrito, councilor of the Alcoutim Chamber responsible for the Environment, Paulo Paulino, vice president of the municipality, as well as Élia Cabrita, representative of the Portuguese Environment Agency.

The Accessible Beach – Praia para Todos Program was created in 2004 and began to award the award in 2005. Since then, the Pego Fundo river beach has received the distinction, providing means for people with reduced mobility to enjoy that beach to the full. river.

The award is given to bathing, maritime and river areas that meet the necessary requirements in terms of accessibility and restricted mobility.

Alcoutim's river beach has free, orderly parking spaces, pedestrian access, access ramp to the sand, sand walkway, access to adapted sanitary facilities and auxiliary bathing facilities and to the help station, as well as sensitized lifeguards and prepared to help users with limited mobility in their difficulties and needs.
