MED, Popular Marches and Carvoeiro “Black & White” liven up Algarve in June

The MED Festival, in Loulé, the Popular Marches or the “Black&White” night, in Carvoeiro (Lagoa), are some of the proposals for the month of June in the Algarve. 

This and other events are featured in the June “Guia Algarve”, a monthly publication by the Algarve Tourism Region that brings together the events held in the destination.

Between music, theatre, exhibitions, dance, sports, parties, festivals and fairs, there are more than 150 cultural events taking place throughout the month.

In music, Dulce Pontes performs with “Peregrinação” at Teatro das Figuras, on June 2, at 21 pm.

Her double album reflects the artist's experience and reconciles different authors and musical styles. Another highlight are the concerts by Amor Electro, on the 9th, at 20:30 pm and at 22:30 pm, at the Vilamoura Casino, and on the same day, a live moment with the fado singer Marco Rodrigues, who presents his new album “Copo Meio Cheio” , at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão, at 21 pm.

Also in music, the municipality of Silves brings, between the 21st of June and the 6th of September, Sunset Secrets – Quintas do Castelo, an initiative of the City Council that proposes several concerts of jazz, fado and other styles, from 19 pm to 00:22 pm .

For another consecutive year, the Lagoa Jazz Fest will be held, this time with its XIII Edition, which will take place between the 22nd and 24th of June from 19 pm at Sítio das Fontes. In Vila do Bispo it will be possible to participate in «Dias d'As Virgens Negras», Drawing Workshop on June 2nd, Singing Workshop on 9th and 15th, and Aljezur International Choir Concert on June 16th.

The Theater features a Stand Up Comedy session with Manuel Marques and Eduardo Madeira, on June 16, at 21 pm at Teatro das Figuras in Faro.

Theatrical moments do not stop there, as there are experiences for kids, with the children's theater «A Nova História do Coelhinho Branco», on June 2nd at 10:30 am and 15 pm, at Teatro Lethes, and there are experiences for adults, with «00 and then?”, also at Teatro das Figuras, on June 40, at 21 pm.

Among other theatrical presentations, in Portimão, on the 30th at 21 pm, the «Sweet Home Europe» is also highlighted, a project that tries to show the extreme in which Europe is, through the representation of love as a political act.

The month of June has some relevant exhibitions, namely the Photography Exhibition by Márcia Barradas, an artist who started her work at the age of 16 and who shows that she does not forget the origins she came from. The exhibition will be available from the 1st to the 26th of June at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery, in Albufeira, from Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm.

Still in Albufeira, until the 23rd of June, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm, the collective exhibition of students from UATI (School of Education for Adults in Albufeira) is on display.

In Lagos, in Antigos Paços do Concelho (Praça Gil Eanes), there will be, until June 22, a collective exhibition of Drawing and Photography, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm.

In dance, highlighted, in Faro, for "Let's Celebrate", a Gala of the Algarve Dance Academy, which will take place on June 23 at 16:00 pm and 21:00 pm, at Teatro da Figuras, in an event whose main objective is to enhance the commemorative dates and their importance for the country's development.

In sports, the main focus is on the National Speed ​​Championship, the first race of the year at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, on the 16th and 17th of June.

Cultural experiences in the Algarve do not stop there and the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) presents the big stars of this publication by the «Algarve Guide».

The MED Festival, which is back with its 15th edition, between the 28th of June and the 1st of July, in the Historic Center of Loulé.

This festival has nine stages where the most varied proposals from the world of music will pass, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Palestine, Angola, Peru, among others.

The Popular Marches mark their presence from the 8th to the 29th of June, thus joining the Popular Saints, in Portimão, to bring joy, animation and a touch of tradition to the population. The parades will take place on the 8th of June at the Zona Ribeirinha de Portimão, the 15th at Mexilhoeira Grande, the 22nd at the Zona Ribeirinha de Alvor, and the 29th at Praia da Rocha.

The Black&White Night Party, on June 16 from 20:30 pm to 3:00 am, at Largo da Praia and Ruas de Carvoeiro could not be missed.
