Katja Helena Hekkala is the new general director of Anantara Vilamoura, resort hotel opened in April 2017.
Katja Hekkala, with a degree in Business Administration from Schiller International University, completed an Executive Leadership course from Cornell University in 2005.
With more than 20 years of experience in the hotel and tourism industry, Katja started her career at Starwood, Sheraton Stockholm and Sheraton Oslo working in different departments, from Front Office to Sales & Marketing.
At the service of the Scandinavian Leisure Group, he has been working in various destinations, such as Morocco, Mauritius, Tunisia, Ireland, Paris and the French Riviera.
She headed to Madeira when she was hired by the Pestana Group and was later invited to the pre-opening and opening of Choupana Hills Resort & Spa, returning to the continent to work at Amorim Turismo's central offices in the Central Sales Department. In the last five and a half years, she held the role of general director at Vilalara Thalassa Resort.
