First, they took the stage, mounted at the feet do farol, the Girls. With their three voices tuned, they roamed the sounds of a vanished Algarve, bringing to life the old photographs and films about Vila Real de Santo António that were playing on the screen. Then, with the wind picking up, the stage was occupied by the now five elements of Dead Combo, who gave music to the silent film “Os FaroLeiros”, from 1922, work shot in Portugal by French Maurice Mariaud.

Thus, on May 30th, the end of the second edition of the «Video Lucem» festival, which, this time, left the churches to set up camps next to the farol from Vila Real de Santo António and show yet another silent film, in this case a story of conflicted love affairs and unhappy endings, to which Dead Combo's music accentuated the dark tones of the drama.

Upstairs, at the top of the tower with almost 50 meters high of the farol of VRSA, the beam of light turned and turned, indifferent to the mismatched loves of two farorowers and a girl, who, down below, were showing themselves on the movie screen, to the sound of Tó Trips and his musicians.

Even with the cool night - there were blankets provided by the organization -, the 300 seats filled with the public, with people standing watching. Among the spectators, some Spaniards and other foreigners of different nationalities, but above all many Portuguese, coming from all over the Algarve, from places as far from Vila Real de Santo António as Lagos, Algoz and Portimão.

The “Video Lucem”, which started in November and went through churches in Faro, Loulé, Martim Longo, Tavira, Ferragudo and Silves, ended with this special session. In all, the festival, promoted by the Cineclube de Faro, with the partnership of the Diocese of Algarve and the support of "365Algarve", surpassed 1100 spectators.
