Students of the degree in Hotel Management at the Superior School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of Algarve will be hosted by the EVA Hotel, in Faro, as “application hotel”.

ESGHT and the AP Hotels & Resorts Group, owner of the hotel, have established a protocol that provides that students can receive on-the-job training in this four-star hotel unit.

According to the University of Algarve, «the protocol now signed follows tests previously carried out in the last two years with restricted groups of students who, in interaction with the hotel staff, participated in training activities, under the coordination of the hotel management and the director of this degree».

As a rule, training includes the theoretical component, followed by laboratory application in the University's facilities (in collaboration with the Social Action Services), and now training applied in a work context at the Hotel Eva.

Since the restructuring of the study plan, which took place in 2015, the course has increased the number of curricular units (subjects) in laboratory application, namely: Reception and Accommodation Techniques I and II, Production and Services Techniques and Practices I and II , Accommodation Management, Food and Beverage Management, and Gastronomy and Oenology.

According to the director of ESGHT, professor Hélder Carrasqueira, «the collaboration with the Hotel Eva allows us to reinforce the “know-how” of graduates in Hotel Management».
