The company Águas do Algarve will celebrate the World Environment Day, which marks the 5th of June, with initiatives aimed at students from the municipalities of Faro and Olhão.

At the invitation of the Municipality of Olhão, Águas do Algarve will present itself at Jardim Pescador Olhanense, between the 5th and 8th of June, to all schools in the municipality in what is already one of the reference actions of this municipality: the Week of Children and the Environment, which this year is under the theme “Oceans Source of Life”.

«With fun and knowledge-friendly activities, younger people will be able to discover some curiosities about the oceans and the environment in general. If you are not a student, but are sensitive to the environment and its preservation, this space is also for you and bring a friend», says Águas do Algarve.

The 2018 edition of Olhão's Children and Environment Week has the presence of various entities, such as Águas do Algarve, the Portuguese Environment Agency, Ambiolhão, the National Maritime Authority, the António Rosa Mendes Municipal Archive, the Library Municipal José Mariano Gago, the Municipal Firefighters of Olhão, Live Science Centers of Faro and Tavira, Municipal Museum of Olhão, Health Center of Olhão, Public Security Police, Ria Formosa Natural Park, RIAS – Wildlife Recovery and Investigation Center, in order to make this an event full of initiatives and interest to all participants.

That company will also participate, on the 7th and 8th of June, in an initiative, in Faro, in which he will teach and share ideas on how to preserve the environment, save water and reuse. This is an initiative in partnership with the Municipality of Faro and the Educational Service of the Municipal Library, as part of the “Water our Best Friend” project.

World Environment Day dates back to 1972, at the Stockholm Conference, and marked the first day of the United Nations Conference on the Environment. The objectives of this date are linked to the increasingly important need to develop actions to protect the environment.

«It is essential that each one of us, once and for all, assume a conscious lifestyle, reflecting on our way of life», concludes Águas do Algarve.
