The results of the project “The rocks and fossils of my school…”, developed in the last three school years, are now presented to the public through the exhibition “Between patches of ancient oceans”, which takes place at the Secondary School of Silves, from today, the 29th of May and until the 5th of June.

«In the construction of the Silves Secondary School building, different types of natural stones were used in the floors and wall coverings. These rocks, formerly formed on the shores of oceans and seas of the past, are full of curious characteristics and fossils of now extinct marine animals, guarding immense stories waiting to be unveiled», explains Professor Francisco Lopes, project coordinator.

Both the teacher and his 12th grade Geology students will give voice to this heritage, usually ignored, through guided tours of the exhibition, on the 5th of June, from 14:15 pm to 17:00 pm. Visits are open to the public.
