Tito Januário, as president, called a meeting of the Board of the Clube Naval de Portimão, for tomorrow, May 28, at 21 pm, «to take a position on the interruption of the electoral process», the CNP has just announced in a statement.

Tito Januário explains that the position will be taken "by consulting, as has always been my prerogative".

"I will also speak with the still president of Mesa, José Casimiro, since he did not formally present the resignation, in order to understand the details of what was succinctly alleged in the document he wrote", added Tito Januário.

Miguel Farinha, vice-president of the current board and now candidate for president on List A, has meanwhile issued a statement, in which he states that "as a member of Clube Naval de Portimão No. 177", he feels "deeply sad and disillusioned by the fact of the General Assembly The election of the 26th of May did not take place normally».

«I hope that everything is resolved, as quickly as possible, so that the club can continue to assert its greatness, a task that I humbly dedicated myself as a member of the Board of Directors of Clube Naval de Portimão for the last six years», adds Miguel Farinha.

According to the note from the CNP, "both are refusing to make additional statements to the Media, until the facts have been ascertained and the action to be taken has been decided."

The chairman of the board of the General Assembly of the CNP, who is now re-candidating for the same post on List A, decided yesterday, at 16 pm, to interrupt the ongoing elections, on suspicion of irregularities in the electoral act.

José Casimiro, chairman of the AG board, then delivered a copy of his handwritten statement, explaining the reasons for his decision, to the representatives of the two competing lists present at the polling station.

In his "communication", he begins by saying that "in the course of the electoral act they were detected suspicions of serious irregularities that undermine the good name of the CNP».

Among them, José Casimiro points out the «voting of members without a regularized financial situation with the club», «obtaining powers of attorney in a suspicious manner, which should be investigated with the principals» and also «representation of members without the ability to vote in accordance with the General Internal Regulation”.

Therefore, continues the chairman of the AG Bureau in his handwritten "communication", "considering the abnormal situation in the Assembly, the Bureau suspends the election, reports to the Public Prosecutor's Office for inquiries."

However, on the Facebook page of his candidacy, List B, which is headed by João Rosa for President of the Board, and includes some historical ones, such as António Feu (candidate for President of the General Assembly), clarifies that «they were the elements of the List B who called the Maritime Police and asked for the seizure of the ballot box and all documents related to the electoral act».

List B argues that "only in this way can the alleged irregularities and the (lack) of reasons to suspend the election, which took place for six hours, be clarified, in absolute respect with all legal and statutory regulations, under the terms previously accepted by the chairman of the AG Bureau and the representatives of each of the competing lists'.
