Algarve lighthouses will be open to celebrate Navy Day

The lighthouses of Cabo de São Vicente, Alfanzina (Carvoeiro), Santa Maria (Faro) and Vila Real de Santo António will be open on the 12th, 13th, 16th, 19th and 20th of May, from 14 pm to 00 pm, as part of the celebrations of the 17 Navy Day.

In addition to these four lighthouses in the Algarve, the Montemor, Leça, Cabo Mondego, Penedo da Saudade, Berlenga, Cabo da Roca, Cabo Espichel and Cabo Sardão lighthouses will be open to the public on the mainland.

In the Azores, the Ferraria, Arnel, Cintrão, Ponta da Graça, Gonçalo Velho, Contendas, Ponta da Barca, Ponta da Ilha, Ponta do Topo, Lages, Flores and Albarnaz lighthouses will be open to the public. In Madeira, the Ponta do Pargo and São Jorge lighthouses open their doors.

"The lighthouses open their doors free of charge so that all visitors have the opportunity to live this experience and learn about its importance in safeguarding navigation", explains the Maritime Authority.
