The municipal executive of Albufeira received, last Saturday, 26th of May, special training in basic life support. 

It was a “different” day for José Carlos Rolo, president of the Chamber, as well as the councilors, chief of staff and assistant to the president.

This action, which took place at the Albufeira Fire Department, is included in the Albufeira Automatic Defibrillation Program (PDAE) and José Carlos Rolo "wanted to set an example", according to the Albufeira City Council, calling "his team so that everyone properly integrated into this programme'.

Introduced last September, Albufeira's Automatic Defibrillation Program (PDAE) has allowed, over this time, a wide range of training sessions with several dozen volunteers, including civilians and military, who are now part of the program as first-aiders, being able to act in situations of cardiorespiratory arrest.

The Automatic Defibrillation Program (PDAE) provides for the placement of 11 pieces of equipment on the public road, cabins that will be equipped with a defibrillator and that will allow for a first response in a situation of cardiorespiratory arrest, also enabling direct contact with the Fire Department for a better response. efficient.

The initiative of the Municipality of Albufeira «is already considered, due to its innovation, a case study in terms of community DAE programmes, with several Portuguese Municipalities intending to follow this example».

José Carlos Rolo, who had the opportunity to receive training and to be in contact with these facilities, says that «this is an initiative that we promote because Albufeira has increased responsibilities in terms of tourism and as such, it is important to collaborate in an increasingly efficient response. in terms of health and safety'.

The mayor also underlines "the involvement of several dozen operational that will allow us to work in a network so that we can improve the time and quality of the response in these cases, where these factors are often decisive."
