It is an "extraordinary concert" that, through music, speaks of interreligiousness. There will only be one session this Saturday, 26th of May, at 19 pm, at Monte Clérigo Beach, in Aljezur, but when this universal “Credo” starts to be heard, the «gods will kiss the sun».
The metaphor, said by Madalena Victorino, programmer of “Lavrar o Mar”, to Sul Informação, expresses well what the show “Credo” will be.
On stage, mounted on a small promontory on Monte Clérigo Beach, will be musicians from the Italian “Orchestra Di Piazza Vittorio”, from different origins and religions. When the sun starts to set, the concert begins, creating the idea of an almost mythical setting: a kind of concert-oratory.
“This show is the brainchild of maestro Mário Tronco, who brought together a multicultural orchestra to try to find the sound of interreligiousness,” explained Madalena Victorino.
In total, nine songs will be performed, inspired by Christian, Muslim and even Buddhist songs. All together create "a universal creed".
The theme of multiculturalism is transversal to several shows of “Lavrar o Mar”. already in the “Pasta e Basta”, for example, a multicultural dinner was cooked with ingredients from several countries.
And the choice of this theme, this time for “Credo”, is not innocent. “The world today is intercultural and can only be understood that way. Even in Aljezur, 60% of the population is foreign. We can only think in a multicultural way», said Madalena Victorino.
This is a concert whose premiere took place at Festival Todos, in Lisbon, in 2015. «When we did the show, we liked it so much that we immediately thought of a new opportunity to repeat it», said the cultural programmer.
And nothing better than Monte Clérigo Beach for that.
«That stunning landscape is also our theater. It's such a beautiful place, where Giacomo and I often go for a walk, and in the context of Lavrar o Mar, we've always thought of doing something there».
Another of the attractions of the concert is the fact that it is composed from original texts by the Catholic priest José Tolentino Mendonça, who was invited to attend this presentation in Aljezur. But as he is someone «with a very busy schedule, only if he surprises us will he be there». Even so, guarantees Madalena Victorino, “he will be with us in spirit”.
