The “Concertos ao Entardecer”, an initiative of the association ArQuente, is back and will bring a lot of alternative Portuguese music to Faro and Sagres.
This year, the cycle opens on May 26th with Tomara. The most recent project by Filipe Monteiro, who left behind the instruments and decided to show himself in full, is presented in Faro this Saturday, at 19:30 pm, at Arquente's headquarters, Galeria Arco, and Sunday, at Fortaleza de Sagres, at 18:00 pm.
On June 2, it is Mathilda, the alter-ego of the young Mafalda Costa, who promises to impress the public, at a concert at ArQuente, scheduled for 19:30.
The Brazilian Momo, which has already gone through the cycle in 2015, is the next gentleman. It operates on Saturday (June 9th, at 19:30 pm), in Faro, and Sunday (10 June), in Sagres, at 18:00.
Closing the cycle is Beatriz Pessoa. With a path that started in jazz, but gained other contours, Beatriz gives concerts in Faro, on the 16th of June, at 19 pm, and in Sagres, the following day, at 30 pm, with his most recent record work, released in March.
«I'm surrendered to the names that will pass through here this year. These are projects with immense value and they are all very different. Don't miss it!”, advises Teresa Silva, president of ArQuente, who recalls the importance of this cycle to show the Algarve public what is best done in the national scene in terms of alternative music.
«Eight years ago, when the cycle started, the public was still shy. Those faithful to the initiative could almost be counted on their fingers and risked spending the end of their Saturday at ArQuente's headquarters listening to music out of the box, while the planes tore the skies and the trains forced us to pay even more attention to the concerts», says ArQuente.
"But today, and after much persistence and resilience, everything has changed and more and more people trust ArQuente – Associação Cultural's musical bets and accept to spend good evenings watching the Ria Formosa while the sun hides on the horizon" .
«When we started we knew we were break stone but we took a risk, because we believed in the value of what we were doing. Today I say, without reservation, that it was worth it», says Teresa Silva.
The cycle “Concertos ao Entardecer” has the support of the Regional Directorate of Cultural of the Algarve, as part of the program DIVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments.
