Traditions and memory meet again in São Brás de Alportel

The meeting “São Brás de Alportel: Traditions and Memory” will once again place in the spotlight the historical heritage of this municipality in the interior of the Algarve, on Saturday, the 17th of March.

The Museu do Traje will host the 3rd edition of this event, which will be attended by «renowned speakers and professionals, promises a journey through the valuable cultural heritage of São Brás de Alportel and also of the Algarve», according to the São Brasense Chamber.

The initiative will be launched with a presentation on popular clothing, by Madalena Farrajota Garcia, "who has already performed the functions of curator of the Museu Nacional do Traje".

This will be followed by the intervention of the architects Marta Santos and José Lima, researchers from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, in a conversation about the historical and innovative value of Cal.

The afternoon starts with a presentation by the art historian Marco Sousa Santos on “Religious Imaginary in the Parish of São Brás de Alportel during the Modern Age”, a heritage to preserve and full of historical and heritage value.

Also remembered will be the “Manuel Dias Sancho Banking House”, through an intervention by Artur Barracosa Mendonça. The meeting ends with the presentation “Algarvian Food Heritage and Health”, by Teresa Sofia Sancho, nutritionist at the Algarve Regional Health Administration and professor at the University of Algarve.
