The Portuguese Vasco Bica (Mirada Factory) and the British Lucy Drees (Orange Bikes), won today, in the elite category, the second race of the Portugal Downhill Cup (DHI), held in São Brás de Alportel.

The elite race was exciting, even after the race was over by all participants. Spaniard Ángel Suarez, who arrived in the Algarve at the top of the Cup overall, was the fastest in the Algarve race, with 240 milliseconds shorter than Vasco Bica. However, the Spaniard ended up disqualified for not having completed the correct route.

All in all, the victory was attributed to Vasco Bica, who completed the race in 2'30''594, 3,174 seconds less than Emanuel Pombo (Ciclo Madeira Clube Desportivo) and 3,927 seconds less than Francisco Pardal, who accompanied him on the podium .

British Lucy Drees was the best female in this Sunday's race, reaching the final in 3'15''058, having already been fastest in the qualifying heat. The Portuguese Margarida Bandeira (Adar Ofimoto) was second, at 5,419 seconds.

The Andorran Blanca Aracil (2nd Racing) has two third places in two races of the Cup, taking advantage of regularity to command the general classification. Today it was 7,263 seconds behind the winner.

Tiago Ladeira (Miranda Factory) successfully faced strong foreign competition, being the fastest among juniors, with 2'37''090.

Second place, at 1,011 seconds, was Jaime García (Bike Motril/Granda Cd). Third, at 1,718 seconds, was Morgan Tyrrell (Intense Racing UK Saddleback).

Gonçalo Bandeira (Miranda Factory) is unstoppable in the cadet category, having triumphed today with 2'40''165. The veterans won Brett Wheller (MS Racing Portugal/Star of Amadora), in master 30, José Sousa (House of the People of Abrunheira), master 40, and José Salgueiro, master 50.

Miranda Factory imposed itself collectively, following at the top of the overall rankings for teams in the Cup.

The DHI Portuguese Cup continues next Sunday, in Lousã, in the dress rehearsal for the European Championship, which will take place at the same track, two weeks later.
