This Monday, 26 March, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel signed a protocol with EDP to replace, by the end of the year, around 200 conventional light bulbs with LED luminaires.

This is a «measure that integrates the Energy Efficiency Plan of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, which between 2015 and 2017, motivated the replacement, by EDP in partnership with the Municipality, of more than 500 obsolete luminaires that registered energy consumption very high,” says the City Council of São Brás.

In the protocol, EDP and the Municipality undertake to work in close collaboration, with the objective of carrying out the phased replacement of all the oldest existing light bulbs in the municipality.

With this measure, the Municipality intends to obtain better results in the use of resources, gains in environmental terms and a reduction in the energy bill.

This protocol also guarantees that all interventions and repairs to public lighting continue to be the responsibility of EDP and that all mercury vapor luminaires and obsolete or poorly maintained equipment will be progressively replaced by LED luminaires.

In addition to this modernization of the municipality's public luminaire, there is also the use of LED technology in the current renovation and construction projects carried out in the public space under the responsibility of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
