The national women's soccer team secured 3rd place in the Algarve Cup, by beating Australia 2-1, in a game played today, Wednesday, in Albufeira Municipal Stadium The Portuguese team thus secured an unprecedented place on the podium in the competition, which brought to the Algarve some of the strongest teams in the world, including the Australian.

The Portuguese took the lead in the 38th minute, through Nádia Coelho. Even before the break, but already in added time, the Australian Caytlin Cooper tied the match.
