Lagos will celebrate books, reading and freedom, between 11 and 23 April, within the scope of the project “Leiturália – Land of Books. Readings and Utopias”. In this year's edition, the Dr. Júlio Dantas Municipal Library will reinforce its literary and cultural offer with the theme “My path is for me outside”, promoting authors of the new Angolan literary generation in different places in the city.

On April 11th, the “tinta d'reading” space will be inaugurated and opened to the public, in the “Salpicos” cafeteria, in the Municipal Swimming Pools of Lagos. On the same day and in the same place, there will be the first of three cultural and literary meetings, which will bring nine Angolan and three Portuguese authors to the city, with a strong connection to Angola.

Branca Clara das Neves, Didier Ferreira, Adolfo Maria, Sendi Baptista, Luaty Beirão, Susana André and Carlos Morais, N'Vunda Tonet, Manuel S. Fonseca, Sedrick de Carvalho and Leonor Figueiredo are the guest authors of these meetings, which are repeated in the 18th and 23rd of April.

On April 23 – World Book and Copyright Day, the “Liberdade 20” photography exhibition will be inaugurated, featuring unpublished works by José Cabral Silva and texts by Luísa Maciel. This exhibition will be presented simultaneously in the six spaces “Leiturália” and in the Municipal Library.

Also on April 23, dedicated to non-reading children, aged between 3 and 6, the puppet show “João Paleta” will be presented, in three sessions, by Companhia Historioscópio Teatro de Marionetas.
