“Portugal in the New Balance of Europe: Contributions of Philosophy to Deserve the Future” is the title of the second edition of the conference “Philosophy in the City”, which will take place on March 16, at 18:00, at the Portimão Museum, with lecturer Viriato Soromenho-Marques, full professor at the University of Lisbon.
Viriato Soromenho-Marques is a renowned specialist in the areas of Philosophy of Politics and Law and of Nature and the Environment, he is a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, regular lecturer in several Portuguese and foreign universities and author of a wide range of works , some of which are translated into Spanish, English, German, French, Norwegian and Mandarin.
Since 1978, he has been developing an intense activity in the associative movement linked to the defense of the environment, having been president of Quercus – National Association for the Conservation of Nature.
At this conference in Portimão, different contributions from Philosophy will be revisited for the understanding and clarification of the European ideal and the crossroads Europe currently faces.
The result of a partnership between the Philosophy Group of the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School and the Municipality of Portimão, this conference is free.
The objective of the initiative is to provide all those interested in Philosophy and in the critical debate of ideas, an excellent opportunity to hear and question leading figures in Brazilian Philosophy and Culture.
