The South Regional Surf Circuit stage takes place this weekend, March 17th and 18th, at Praia do Vau, in Portimão. 

At the beginning, the race was scheduled for Praia da Rocha, but the location was changed «taking into account the weather conditions and the bottoms of Praia do Vau» which are «currently in good condition for the formation of waves and in that sense to provide good conditions for athletes and a good spectacle», says the Chamber of Portimão.

It will be in this competition that the qualification for the 2018 National Surf Hopes Championship will take place in the official categories under-12, under-14, under-16 (male and female) and under-18 (male and female). it will also include the unofficial men's and women's open categories.

Entries are open to federated athletes until the 14th of March. With regard to the official categories, athletes must enroll in the website of the Portuguese Surfing Federation, while in the unofficial categories, men's and women's Open, they should be sent to the e-mail [email protected].

The registration fee is 20 euros. The event, organized by the Yacht Club Marina de Portimão / Playsurf, has the technical support of the Portuguese Surfing Federation and the institutional support of the Municipal Council and the Parish Council of Portimão.

This stage of the Surf do Sul 2018 circuit has as media partner the Sweel Algarve and the sponsorships of Love Surf Marina de Portimão, Secret Spot Surf Shop, Ferox Surfboards, NSP Portugal, Iodo Surfwear, Euroalicerce, Fisiorider, Myself, Tivoli Marina de Portimão.
