Applications for the 2018 European Business Promotion Awards are open until April 9, announced the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRA).

The European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) are an initiative of the European Commission launched in 2005 and promoted in more than thirty countries, aiming to identify and recognize successful activities that support and stimulate entrepreneurial initiative.

Over these twelve years, several Portuguese projects have been awarded by the European Commission in various categories, with increased visibility and impact for the respective projects and promoters. Examples of this are “Empresa na Hora”, “Douro Boys”, the project “Portuguese Shoes – The sexiest industry in Europe”, “Lisboa Empreende” and the well-known “SME Leader Statute”, elected as best project in the category “ Development of the business environment”.

Portugal is among the countries that have, so far, the most awards given by the European Commission, a sign of the dynamism and investment that the country, regions and cities are making towards the development of the national entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission and IAPMEI – Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, the national coordinating entity, challenge public and private entities to submit applications, namely for initiatives and projects financed by European Union funds.
