Youth Participatory Budget of the Municipality of Cascais (8,87), Public Participation Process in the Strategic Agenda of Cross-border Cooperation Friendship of the Municipalities of Cerveira and Tomiño (8,27), Municipal Youth Plan of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia (8,01, 7,99), Moments i of the Municipality of Viana do Castelo (7,77) and Participatory Budgeting of the Municipality of Funchal (XNUMX).

These are the five best practices classified by the jury and their final marks, on a scale of 0 to 10, of the 2017 Good Participation Practice Award.

The evaluation period, by the jury, of the applications for the Prize for Good Participation Practices ended on 15 March.

The Prize was launched last January, aimed at members of the Network of Participative Local Authorities, as an incentive to the implementation, dissemination and enhancement of innovative practices of participatory democracy at the local level.

Nineteen practices applied, which were analyzed by an independent jury, made up of four entities: Assistant Secretary of State for Administrative Modernization, International Observatory of Participatory Democracy, In Loco Association and Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra.

The jury's assessment «was based on a set of criteria present in the regulation (available for consultation at www.portugalparticipa.pt) and properly conceptualized, for a unanimous understanding».

Now follows a new phase, the public voting, which will start on the 26th of March, running until the 22nd of April. The vote will take place in www.portugalparticipa.pt. Each of these stages, jury voting and public voting, will have a weight of 50% in the final score.

Two prizes will be awarded, with the first place being nominated as the best practice of participatory democracy in Portugal in 2017 and the second place receiving an honorable mention.
