The University of Algarve will teach free courses in Italian, which will be open to the entire community during after-work hours. Online registrations can be made until the 2nd of March.

These courses will be supported by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Institute of Culture in Lisbon. Therefore, «the registered ones will enjoy a reduced price», according to the University of the Algarve.

A Level A1 Italian Course (beginners) and a Level A2 Italian Course (basic) will be taught according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR). The two courses will last 50 hours each and will consist of teaching the Italian language and culture.

The Italian Course for the Tourism Sector (level A1) will also be given, with a duration of 20 hours, specifically aimed at the tourism sector (hotels, restaurants, culture, and real estate, transport and tourist information sectors ).

According to the University of Algarve, this training is justified «given the considerable increase in the presence of Italian tourists in the Algarve and of new native Italian-speaking residents».

The price to be paid for each 50-hour course (initiation and basic) is 125 euros (plus 10 euros registration) for the academic community (students and staff), and 135 euros (plus 10 euros registration) for the non-academic community.

The 20-hour course (tourism sector) has a price of 75 euros (plus 10 euros of registration) for the academic community and 85 euros (plus 10 euros of registration) for the non-academic community.

The courses will be taught at the Campus de Gambelas. The Initiation course (A1) will have classes on Monday and Wednesday, from 17:30 pm to 19:30 pm, while the Basic course (A2) will be taught on Tuesday and Thursday, from 18:00 pm to 20:00 pm.
