Albufeira will host a session of the tour “Smart Cities” on Wednesday, February 21st. The initiative will take place at the Main Hall of the City Council from 9:30 am and provides for workshops, presentations and a debate.

The purpose of this tour national, promoted by the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities, is «to present the state of the art of Portuguese cities, with the participation of the territory, academia and companies, as well as knowing the main challenges and concrete projects that the network's municipalities have in the different dimensions involved”, according to the City Council of Albufeira.

During the 21st of February session, workshops will be promoted on the themes “City as a Platform”, “Mobility”, “Resilience”, “Economic and Financial Sustainability”, “Tourism”, “Building” and “Innovation”.

The program also has panels of speakers and a debate. The first panel will address the themes “The City as a Platform” (Miguel de Castro Neto from the New Information Management School), “Portugal SmartCities Summit” (Elisabete Martins), “Building Smart Cities” (Altice) and “Intelligent Services (CTT)".

This is followed by a panel “which will address the visions of the territory (municipalities), academia and companies”. This moment will be filled by the presentations “Algarve + Digital” (AMAL), “Smart City Lagoa” (Lagoa City Council), “Lisbon Urban Intelligence Platform” (João Tremoceiro, Lisbon City Council) and “Oeiras Platform” ( City Council of Oeiras).

The works end with a debate on the Challenges of Urban Intelligence.

Participation is free but mandatory. Interested parties should register on the website of the National Association of Municipalities.
