Portuguese soprano Elisabete Matos joins the Orquestra Clássica do Sul in the opening concert of FIMA – Algarve International Music Festival, scheduled for 2 March, at 21 pm, at Cineteatro Louletano, in Loulé.
The Associação Musical do Algarve organizes, for the second consecutive year, the FIMA, which runs from 2nd March to 24th May. For three months, the Algarve region will host 15 classical music concerts based on the quality and excellence of guest conductors, groups and soloists.
Holder of enormous international prestige and recognition, Elisabete Matos is present at a concert called “Os Sons do Destino”, whose program recalls the drama of Wagner's work and the inspirational vein of Tchaikovsky, directed by Maestro Rui Pinheiro.
In its 33rd edition, FIMA returns to the Algarve with a diversified program and concerts in different locations in the region.
With traditional Armenian dances and music, the Chilingirian Quartet is presented; in the harmonious alliance between piano and violin, the Doppio Ensemble appears, a project of two Portuguese interpreters; or the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, conducted by Maestro Ernst Schelle and in the company of soloist Vladimir Tolpygo, on violin, are some of FIMA's many musical suggestions for the coming months.
Martin André and Peter Stark are some of the guest conductors, such as guitarist Gaëlle Solal, violinists Francesca Dego and Pedro Meireles or cellist Paulo Gaio Lima. In an original format, actor Diogo Infante also takes the stage, accompanied by a group of chamber music.
