The Algarve deputy Ana Passos, elected by the Socialist Party, has been a member since Friday, 9 February, of the Occasional Committee for Monitoring the Process of Definition of the Portugal 2030 Strategy, created within the scope of the European Union's post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework.

In addition to monitoring the strategy definition process, the new Commission will make recommendations within the scope of the Cohesion Policy, a matter in which Portugal has shown high levels of implementation.

“We are going into a period of preparation for the next program of community funds, so it is of crucial importance that we take a rigorous look at the major objectives aimed at our country and define the most appropriate policies for their implementation”, stresses the parliamentarian.

Ana Passos expresses her full availability to articulate the reflection with the mayors of the Municipal Councils, through the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), in order to «register the most opportune recommendations at municipal and regional level within the scope of the Portugal 2030 financial framework» .

The future of the Cohesion Policy and its impact on the country in the medium and long term has, in fact, been the subject of debate promoted by the Government with the various economic and social sectors, through public hearings aimed at discussing the National Strategy for the Portugal 2030.

This reflection has already brought Prime Minister António Costa to the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission and to others in the rest of the country, where he has been meeting with the mayors of the Municipal Councils.
