Diogo Piçarra, from the Algarve, is the winner of the José da Ponte Award, promoted by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (SPA).

This is a distinction that aims to reward young Portuguese musical creators.

The award will be delivered, on a date yet to be announced, at the Frederico de Freitas Auditorium, at the SPA headquarters (Lisbon).

Born in Faro, Diogo Piçarra achieved notoriety in the Portuguese music scene after winning SIC's “Ídolos” program in 2012. Before that, the musician had already formed a band, Fora da Bóia.

Diogo Piçarra's most recent album is called “do=s”.
