The Board of Directors (CA) of the University Hospital Center of the Algarve (CHUA) denied having asked the medical service directors of Faro, who in the meantime submitted their resignation, "to adopt any measure that would jeopardize good clinical practices, having only and exclusively requested an active and joint collaboration in the search for solutions".

According to those responsible for managing the Algarve hospitals, there was, in fact, “a joint internal meeting between the members of the Board of Directors, the direction of the Department of Medicine and three directors of the Internal Medicine services.

"The purpose of the meeting was to discuss internal matters arising from an increase in demand for care, especially during the flu activity period, seeking, through a constructive attitude and the involvement of service directors, to find solutions that would allow for the adaptation of internal procedures aimed at mitigate the effects of the increased demand for hospital care», revealed the CA of CHUA, in a statement.

What is certain is that, following the meeting, the three doctors who ran the Medicine service, «in a letter sent to the Board of Directors, made their service management posts available, and they are currently being analyzed ».

This morning, Health Minister Adalberto Campos Fernandes devalued layoffs and he said that he was informed by the chairman of the Board of Directors of CHUA that "a specific divergence, which will be overcome", would be at stake, during a hearing at the Health Commission of the Assembly of the Republic
