The directors of the three Medicine services of the unit of Faro from the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve have resigned, due to the inability to respond to requests and to alleged pressure from the administration for medical discharges sooner than necessary.

The complaint is made by Roque da Cunha, secretary general of the Independent Union of Doctors (SIM), who assured, in statements to Antena 1, that the Board of Directors of CHUA, faced with the existing problems, replied that the doctors would have « of accelerating the highs».

At the end of last year, the overcrowding and unresponsiveness of services at the Farense hospital had already been denounced, in this case by a group of nurses from the Emergency. The complaint, which reached the newsrooms from a non-institutional email and was posted on social networks, spoke of patients hospitalized on stretchers for days and subject to indecent conditions and lack of food», due to the reduced number of health professionals.
