The painting exhibition “Praia”, by Ana André, will be on display from 3rd March to 8th April, at the Museu de Portimão.

This is an exhibition that is part of the contemporary art cycle “Um Certo Ponto de Vista”, an Artadentro project that integrates the “365Algarve”.

The exhibition, which includes works already shown in Faro and new ones, to be exhibited for the first time at the Portimão Museum, present a «set of paintings that deal with the strange and fleeting light of dusk, where colors change every minute and the world with them, offering the artist the opportunity to unexpected chromatic conjugations», says Artadentro.

In addition to the specific issues of painting as an artistic discipline, this set of works was carried out by Ana André, «while the problems raised by the necessary rehabilitation of the islands of Ria Formosa – where he spent most of the summers of his childhood» were revived.

Today, after a few years, the memory of those carefree and joyful times reinforces the notion of “beach” as the place of desire for excellence. «It is the contemporary “Eden”, the utopian place of well-being, where time slows down and every problem opens a parenthesis to the possibility of a perennial happiness».

The exhibition can be visited on Tuesdays from 14:30 pm to 18:00 pm and from Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm. On Saturdays, from 10:00 am to 14:00 pm, admission is free.

Ana André is from Faro, city where you live and work. He studied Painting and Drawing at Ar.Co in Lisbon, and Visual Arts at the University of Algarve, in Faro. He has exhibited his work since 1995, in individual and collective exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.

His work is mainly developed through painting and drawing, although he occasionally uses photography, sound and video.
