70 deputies, elected by schools in the Algarve, will participate, on the 6th of March, in the district session of the “Youth Parliament”, to be held at the Algarve Regional Directorate of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), in Faro. 

Students will participate in the initiative, elected by representatives of 15 secondary schools in the Algarve.

The Secondary Schools of Loulé, Albufeira, Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António, Laura Ayres, Quarteira, João de Deus, Tomás Cabreira and Pinheiro e Rosa, from Faro, Manuel Teixeira Gomes, from Portimão, Father António Martins de Oliveira, from Lagoa, and Francisco Fernandes Lopes, from Olhão.

The Professional Schools will be Cândido Guerreiro, from Alte, Loulé, and D. Francisco Gomes de Avelar, from Faro. The Nobel International School Algarve, from Lagoa, and the Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura will also participate.

All participants will “defend the “measures” that each one understands as a priority”, says the IPDJ.

This year, António Eusébio, deputy of the Assembly of the Republic, elected by the PS, will follow the work of the district session.

In this initiative, the district's recommendation project will be approved. Faro and elected the young people who will represent the Algarve at the national session of the Youth Parliament that will be held, on 14 and 15 May, at the Assembly of the Republic, in Lisbon.

The “Youth Parliament”, whose school sessions have already taken place, seeks to encourage young people's interest in civic and political participation and underscore the importance of their contribution to resolving issues that affect their individual and collective present and future, making their proposals heard with the bodies of political power.

This year, the theme approved by the Education Commission of the Assembly of the Republic, for edition of secondary education is “Gender Equality – A Debate for All@s”.
