The University of Algarve (UAlg) will be present, until next Sunday, January 21st, at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), in Madrid, showing its «greatest skills and competences».

In a joint space and at the invitation of the Algarve Tourism Region, the University of Algarve will make known the mobility programs, initiatives such as the “Summer Courses”, the offer and provision of services, focusing not only on the tourism sector, but also in all other areas and potentialities.

For André Botelheiro, coordinator of the UAlg Communication Office, «the participation of the University in the largest tourism fair in the world will help to consolidate academic and scientific tourism, taking into account the great mobility that exists worldwide».

Several tourism schools from various European countries will visit Fitur and, therefore, «this will be an opportunity to get to know UAlg's training offer».

It should be noted that a large number of students come from Spain for UAlg. Whether because of its proximity, or for historical reasons, or because of the partnerships with various universities and companies in this country, this participation in Fitur is seen by the University of Algarve as an “added value”.

With regard to training, UAlg has six programs focused on this sector: it offers a Higher Technical Professional (TesP) course in Tourism Management and Animation, two degrees, one in Tourism and the other in Hotel Management, two masters, Management and Hotel Management and Tourism and a PhD in Tourism.

Betting on internationalization and targeting the entire world, UAlg already teaches 19 master's programs and 12 doctoral programs in the English language, «and these numbers are expected to increase in the next academic year».

Located in pavilion 4 of the fair, the Algarve stand can only be visited until Friday by professionals. Saturday and Sunday will be open to the general public.

Participation in Fitur is part of the “Algarve is Our Campus – Study and Research in Algarve” project, co-financed by CRESC Algarve 2020, through the Support System for Collective Actions – Internationalization, which aims to promote and enhance awareness and attractiveness of the University of Algarve and Region, through the implementation of actions aimed at internationalization and the consequent increase in the number of international students, teachers and researchers.

at Fitur The Algarve Tourism Region will also be represented, taking cycle tourism and the Mediterranean Diet as flags, 14 Algarve companies and the Câmara de Tavira.
